Have been programming ASP 3.0 for years and am moving up to ASP.NET 2.0 and am glad WROX got picked up.

I have installed VWD successfully and the WROXUnited site runs under Cassini. When attempting to load on IIS I get the following configuration error:

Parser Error Message: Unrecognized configuration section 'connectionStrings'

Source File: D:\WWW\WroxUnited\web.config Line: 20

which reads

Line 20: <connectionStrings>

I am running:

Win XP Pro SP2
IIS 5.1
SQL 2000 (I get the error even when I shut down this instance)

I have Visual Studio 2002 v 7 and .NET Framework 1.0 loaded on this machine as well.

Any thoughts?

Fixed it. I had to install ASP.NET v2.0...I ran the following command from the command prompt (i.e. "start"->"run"):

c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspn et_regiis.exe -i

Hopefully this post will save someone my pain (should've googled first!)

Glad you fixed it. The problem is that when you set up web sites or virtual roots, by default they are set as version 1.1. Using the asnet_regiis tool sets them to version 2. Do a search and you can also find the "ASP.NET Version Switcher" - a third party tool which lets you easily see, and set, the versions of web sites.
