Default Uninstall BETA's first

Just a word to anyone that is getting ready to start the book. Make sure you uninstall any BETA's you may have installed. Everything was working fine for me until I hit Chapter 6 and realized that they were out of BETA. After uninstalling the BETA's (still working on my home computer) and installing the latest versions, everything is runing fine now.

Enjoying the book,
Rob in Tampa

My office computer was a clean uninstall of Beta 2 and then a smooth install.

My home computer was another story. I had a bothched install of an MSDN server I forgot about. The automatic uninstall did not work so I had to do an manual uninstall of SQL Server. There were a bunch of registry keys to remove and then some directories.

Once that was done, the new version installed with no problems. I get a named instance error every once in a while... but, I just set the connection to false for named instance.

You should be ok if you had a clean install of the beta.

I went from beta 1 to beta 2, which had problems, and the final didn't work, so I had to reformat. I was curious if beta 2 to final only was good. Thanks for the info.
