Default XP IIS setup Browse Error

I followed pg 662 to use WroxUnited with XP IIS installed. I created the Virtual Directory and Alias to the WroxUnited directory. Then I browse the "WroxUnited" and receive the below error. I also added to this directory the Write permission and get same error.

Please advise on my error. Thanks!

This is an MS problem. I've done some googling for you and it looks like this solution is needed to sort the error:

1) Reboot windows.

2) Log in as Administrator (if you aren't running with Admin privileges)

3) Delete the C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Data\SQLEXPRESS directory.

You might need to logout and log back in as a "normal" user if you normally run with non-admin privileges.

Hi,
This is fundamentally still the same error, despite the slightly different message. This is a problem with SQL Express setup. More googling reveals another solution - try this:

1) Go to the SQL Configuration Manager
2) Select SQL Express and right click and select properties
3) From the Logon tab, change the account from "Network Service" to "Local System"
4) Try to run it again.

There seems to be a problem with remote logging on as detailed here:

SQL Express was installed with account set to "Local System".

Will keep searching...

Okay, I reinstalled IIS; created Virtual Directory and now receive error message:

"You are not authorized to view this page" I thought that HTTP Headers didn't have ASP.NET. It does. "X-Powered-By: ASP.NET" is there.

What else can I do to solve this?

Again Thanks!

I think you do not have default.aspx listed in the header.

I've now found this thread on MSDN which suggests MS will have to fix it in a service pack!!!

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/Sho...36710&SiteID=1

You will need an MSDN persona to see it I think.
