Default The control with ID 'UpdatePanel1' requires a ScriptManager on the page.

Hello all,

I got the above error whilst doing the sxercises in chapter 10

The control with ID 'UpdatePanel1' requires a ScriptManager on the page. The ScriptManager must appear before any controls that need it.

I first got it doing the flicker free pages example on page 328 and then the problem reappeared doind the timer control example on page 332.

The book doesn't ask for the user to insert script managers in the time example. What could be causing this problem? Is it because the problem before wasn't resolved? Why would this occur on a Timer demo.

Where do the scriptmanagers get inserted in reference the the updatepanel1 declaration?

Regards

Tomche

Quote from step 1 on page 333 (TIO with the timer):
Quote:
Create a new page under the Demos folder based on your custom template and call it Timer.aspx.
Give the page a Title of Timer Demo.
The new page is based on your own template. The template should use the Master Page, and the Master Page should contain the ScriptManager, as shown in the TIO on page 329.

Hope this helps,

Imar
