Hello,

I noticed in Chapter 12 that you added a RequiredFieldValidator to the text boxes which had Insert and Edit Item templates.
I am trying to add a validator to a field that is simply bound - with no template. Is this possible? If so, how can I do it?

Nope; you can't do that. You have to convert the BoundColumn / Field to a TemplateColumn / Field first in order to add the validator.
