Thumbs down Main menus not working in IE 8

I was able to deploy my web site tahnks to this great book! Great job Imar!

Everything works great in IE 7 but when viewing the site in IE 8 the main menus do not appear, just white space. Is there any work around?

My CSS file is the same as described in Chapter 7.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thumbs up Known issue, reported in the errata

Hi there,

Check out the book's errata (http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTit...Cd-ERRATA.html) and this post: IE8 and the Menu

This is caused by a change in behavior in IE 8....

If you are having trouble running sites in IE8 that worked in IE7 I strongly recomend 'Compatibility Mode' which lets you search pages that aren't up to speed with IE8 technology. This link is helpful in explaining how it works.

Hi there,

While IE Compatibility Mode is great to fix existing web sites that have issues, I wouldn't recommend it for new web sites. It would be a lot better to create new pages now that are compliant with standards so they don't need the compatibility mode.

Cheers,

Imar
