Default Chapter 18 - Accounts for Windows 7

On page 652, you show a table with the accounts for different versions of Windows.

My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate and I do not have neither ASPNET nor Network Service accounts.

What should I pick as my ASP.NET account ?

As for the Web Server Account, I have IUSR and IIS_IUSRS too.
What should I pick as my Web Server Account account ?

Cheers,

Roberto

Hi Roberto,

IIS on Windows 7 uses the application pool identity by default. When you create a new web site, IIS also creates a new Application Pool (listed under Application Pools in the IIS Manager). A new account matching the pool's name is created as well. This account is called IIS AppPool\NameOfYourPool which is what you should use for configuration. Take a look at the list of application pools to find out the exact name.

Hope this helps,

Imar
