right now i'm following the steps in p. 649
Try It Out Configuring a Site with Windows Vista or Server 2008

my operating system is windows 7 professional , Arabic interface

I followed all the steps since the beginning of the chapter ,, and every thing is going great.

Open the Internet Information Services Manager. You find this item in the Administrative Tools section of the control panel if it’s in Classic View. Alternatively, click Start, then type inetmgrin the Search box, and press Enter
No respond !!! Nothing's found !!!

I also have checked my steps on this link ,, just like the book

http://www.iis.net/learn/install/ins...-and-windows-7

but I couldn't find or open the iis manger at my computer
don't know why

I'm doing this cause i wanna upload my website(my project) to a free host somee.com

I've been trying to do it since yesterday ,, so I decided to follow all the instruction in chapter 18 till it works fine with me

Question : is there a better free host than somee.com ,, or is it the only one available for free?

and is there a specific quick way to upload my website correctly in no time !!!
regards !

Hi there,

That's not the case. However, since this is a pretty old book, not a lot of people have questions about it.

If you go into Programs and Features and then click Turn Windows Features on or off, what do you see under Internet Information Services? Can you list the options that are checked?

Cheers,

Imar

Looks like you missed the Web Management Tools option.

Cheers,

Windows Vista You install IIS through the Programs and Features section, which you can access through the control panel or by clicking Start, typing appwiz.cplin the Search box, and pressing Enter. When you’re in the Programs and Features dialog box, click the link Turn Windows Features On Or Off to bring up the Windows Features dialog box, shown in Figure 18-8.

Click the Internet Information Services item to select it. This also selects some of its required subfeatures. Then expand World Wide Web Services➪Application Development Features and select ASP.NET. This causes some of the other Development features to be selected as well.
it wasn't mentioned to click web management tool , right ?!

any ways ,, it showed up now ,, thnx a lot ,, you are a great teacher ,, always save my time
thnx !!

On the operation systems mentioned in the book, this also selects the Management tools.
