I have a slightly different question that I hope can be answered.

I am very much interested in purchasing this book, but I was wondering if I could use Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate to follow along with this book? I am still a few months away from getting Windows 8, which also means I can't download Visual Studio Express 2012 yet. We're also still using VS 2010 and asp.net 4.0 at work, so if this is not an option then maybe I should settle for the previous version of this book.

Probably not; things are quite different in VS 2012 compared to 2010 so using the 2012 book will probably confuse you....

I don't get that. VS 2012 is not tied to Windows 8 and would run on Windows 7 as well. Or are you on an older and unsupported OS?

Also, it's good to know you can have the two run side-by-side without any issues.

Oh wow I wasn't checking properly. I didn't realize that Visual Studio 2012 Express would run on Windows 7. For some reason I thought all VS 2012 products would require Windows 8. I knew it was a good idea to ask first before deciding haha. Thank you for the speedy reply, I appreciate it. I am looking forward to reading your book soon.
