I heard somewhere that you can actually access your smart tags for your ASP.Net components in the markup view section of Visual Studio? Is that true? Can you not also highlight some code in the markup section and right click on it and chose extract to user control where it will not only extract it out but it is also going to add a register directive and point over to the extracted file automatically and automatically put in the tag as well? Is this true? Or have I been just hearing things?

Yes, it's true. You find more on this on page 119.
