Do you recommend the installation of service packs for Visual Studio 2012 at this particular point in time? Are there any that we might need to install to complete the exercises in the book? What about for later on for when we go into the advanced version of your book by Wrox?

The book was written without any service packs (as they weren't out back then), so you don't have to install them.

However, you can probably install them without any issue. I have them installed here and haven't run into any issues. Be aware that the service packs do change things, so you may run into an issue or into screens that looks different from the ones in the book.
