Deploying your website
Hi Imar,
I wanted to know.. If I created a site, let's say the PlanetWrox, but I wasn't able to do the last two try it out because of some comflits, and I send this site to you, are you able to know that I didn't do the last two steps? (I think that is in my computer, how can you know?)

Hi there,
I don't understand what you're asking. Can you elaborate?

I had problems deploying my site, I wasn't able to complete the last two "Try it Out" of chapter 19 from your book Beginning ASP.NET 4 : in C# and VB.
Now, If I sent you a folder which contains my Site, for you to see it, can you tell if it was deployed or not?

Deploying doesn't much to the actual site. It merely creates a copy of the site and uploads that to your destination / production server. So, by sending me a copy I won't be able to tell whether you deployed it to your production server.
What went wrong? Why couldn't you complete the exercises?
Cheers,
Imar

Actually the information you sent me was great, but when I went to the http://localhost/ I got this error:
"This error (HTTP 403 Forbidden) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but it does not have permission to view the webpage.
For more information about HTTP errors, see Help."
I checked in the troubleshooting web server section and apparently everything is ok. The NTFS was selected, the Defaulst.aspx was in the folder and configured in the IIS, so I don't know. . .

Hi there,
Sounds like an issue with IIS. A bit difficult to diagnose remotely, but let's give it a try:
1. Which version of Windows are you using?
2. Did you install .NET after you installed IIS? If not, have you tried reinstalling / reconfiguring ASP.NET?
3. To which account did you grant the permissions to the Release folder?
4. Did you correctly assign the correct .NET version in IIS to the site?

Hi Imar,
1. I'm using Windows XP Professional, Pack 3
2. I just remembered installing ASP.NET and then setting the IIS. however, I have a folder named Microsoft .NET isn't that one?, if no, Where can I get that .NET?
3. How can I check what account I gave the permission?
4. how can I make sure I did?

Hi there,
You may want to (re) read Chapter 19, and page 710 to the end in particular. It's all in there. For instructions on configuring and installing IIS on Windows XP, please refer to www.iis.net.
Cheers,
Imar
