Default Chapter10: Update Panel and Content Template

Hi,

I was just wondering why when the Update Panel control is dragged from the Tool Box, it does not include the code for the ContentTemplate with it. On the other hand, the ContentTemplate is added if we do it manually as described in the book, page335. Why this happens or is it just the way it is, and does the update panel has to have a ContentTemplate code?

Thank you.

Default

Hi there,

I guess this is just the way it is. The controls in the Toolbox only add the outer tags and don't include any nested required tags. Since you need a ContentTemplate for the UpdatePanel, adding that by default when dragging a control from the toolbox would have made a lot of sense.

You can remove the existing one and replace it with your own by dragging a piece of markup into the toolbox.

Cheers,

Imar
