Default Chapter 6: Adding a theme to web.config file

Hello,

I am learning asp.net and following precisely the do it yourself, but I am stuck at this one. It says to create a folder app_theme, drag the styles.css inside change its name to match the theme which is Monochrome and then delete the old style link from the master page.

At the end we should go to the web.config file and add the theme as follow:
<pages theme="Monochrome"><pages/>

However, After doing all and refreshing my default page my theme does not appear, like there is something that does not work. The page is blank without any theme at all.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi there,

When you look at the browser's source, do you see a link tot the Monochrome theme? Maybe the link is there but the CSS isn't applied?

Also, take a look at the Themes folder in Visual Studio. Does the Monochrome theme's folder contain your CSS files?

Hi Imar
I am currently working through Beginning Asp.Net 4.5.1 in C# and VB. But cannot find a specific thread for that book. Can I post questions to this. Having a problem with Chapter Six Themes however this is fixed by your answer regarding removing the Monochrome ref is web.config however the darkgrey them is not centered. Should be able to fix that for myself in the CSS file.

By the way, I don't know why I didn't upgrade from classic asp sooner. Enjoying the study with your help.

Yours
