Default Loading Chapter 3 project takes a long time to load first time!!

Hi
I loaded the Chapter 3 source code, which uses the _Layout.cshtml technique together with the c# @RenderPage Method. I initially felt that it took a long time to load in IE and Google Chrome. I didn't think to time how long it took. I wasn't sure it was just my imagination or maybe a problem with my laptop. I ran it again and it seemed a lot faster with no concern.

Then I ran it using Safari which took 20 seconds. I stopped it and ran again which now took just 1 second to load!!

Question: Should this project take long time to load first time and would become more of an issue once the web-site is Live on the Internet? If so, then are the methods in Chapter 3 a practical way of setting up web-sites?

Kind Regards
Matt
p.s I do really like the idea of splitting up the various web-site areas into different files though :)

Hi Matt,

20 seconds seems like a long time to me. What hardware is this running on? There's an initial delay as .NET compiles the pages but after that it should run much faster until you change the page again. There shouldn't be a big difference among browsers though.....

Hi Imar
My Laptop is an Intel Corei3 processor, Windows 7 64 bit. I don't install any dodgy software on it and any other web-sites always load really quickly taking only a second to load.
Maybe I'll have to re-visit this problem again after trying Chapter 3 on some other PCs, after the web-site goes live.
It was just a problem when loading it for the first time into either IE, Google Chrome or Safari. After the first time, it took 1 second or less to load.
Cheers
Matt
