Well, like I said, this is a really weird situation. We are either overlooking something really simple, or you have a messed up IIS installation.

Is it an option for you to de-install IIS (also move or remove the C:\Inetpub folder) and then re-install it again? That's what I would try at this stage on my own system....

You are running Windows XP Professional with IIS, right?

Imar

Aaaaahhhhh, I think I know what is going on.

Does your browser accept cookies? For Sessions to work, your browser must be able to accept cookies. If you block cookies, or your firewall blocks them, ASP is unable to reconnect your browser to an existing Session, and will create a new Session for each request.

P.S. Does your server (machine) name contain an underscore?

Good Morning Imar,

I think you've cracked it. I haven't tried anything yet (I'm off to work in a moment) but I have ZoneAlarm installed and that causes all kinds of problems.

I tried to change the settings in IE6
Tools>>Internet Options>>Privacy>>Advanced
and switched on Always allow Session Cookies

But that didn't make any difference.

I'll investigate the ZoneAlarm options later

Thanks for everything so far.

Best Regards

PS. The Server (Machine) name does NOT contain an underscore.
