If you're having problem with a firewall, try this:
1. Go to the Services panel found in the Administrative Tools
2. Locate World Wide Web publishing and set its start mode to Manual (by double clicking it)
3. Reboot your machine
4. Go to Services again, and start World Wide Web publishing.
It's likely you're firewall asks for permission to allow the web server. If it does, click Yes.

Hi Imar!
Actually, I managed to get it working for Internet Explorer, but I typically use firefox, and I now receive this error when I try it on Firefox:
Technical Information (for support personnel)
* Error Type:
error '8002801c'
Error accessing the OLE registry.
/iisHelp/common/500-100.asp, line 154
Also. when trying to load the localstart page, I am prompted for a username and password.. is this supposed to happen??
thanks again for helping me!
Lori.
