Default Forms dreamweaver mx 2004

Hi, I'm a total beginner using dreamweaver. I've been using front page but I'm trying to switch. I'm teaching myself dreamweaver and I know how to create a form but I'm having problems to collect the info in the form and email it. In frontpage you just type the e-mail address in the form properties and that's it. But dreamweaver doesn't work that way and I've been doing my research online but the explanations go over my head. Is there an easy way to learn how to e-mail (without using the "mailto" thing)the form info?
I heard about ASP and IIS but to be honest, no idea what they are talking about. If there's someone out there that can help me? I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you and have a great day.

Hi Bearger,

Do you have a copy of the book Beginning Dreamweaver MX or MX 2004? That book will teach you a lot about ASP in Dreamweaver and shows you how to work with forms and database, among other things.

For a brief code snippet for sending mail with ASP, take a look here:

http://imar.spaanjaars.com/QuickDocId.aspx?QUICKDOC=249

Please note that the code you can / should use depends entirely on your server. If you have a shared web site with an ISP, chances are they are using a different, third party component for sending mail.

HtH,

Imar
