Howdy

I am a little frustrated over what is probably a simple fix, but I can't seem to find it.

When I create the index.htm and type "This is our home page", the address in the browser reads a bunch of numbers rather then ".../index.htm". Somehow the remote server is creating a duplicate "numbered" page with the index.htm, but it doesn't recognize the index page.

I have gone further however despite this error and started creating the page design. The next problem is the transfer of images to the "www.root" folder. I found the fix in the forums, but I would like to know if any updates are going to be coming out for Errata soon.

Hi Joel,

It looks like you have "Preview using temporary file" enabled. With this option on, DW creates a temp copy of the file which it uploads to the server and then in the browser. To change this behavior, open the Preferences dialog, then the Preview in Browser category. Uncheck the box, and your problem should be fixed.

For your other problem: where did you find the fix? And if it worked for you, would you mind sending it in? If no-one reports errors to Tech Support, they won't be added to the Errata section. To submit errata for the book, e-mail Wrox Technical Support at [email protected]. Be sure to include the full title of the book in the subject line and the last five numbers of the ISBN in the subject field of your e-mail.

If you already have the solution, please add it to the e-mail. If you don't have it, that's OK too. We'll take a look at it and fix it, if possible.

As for the other problem that I had found the fix for, it was you who answered the question.

"Did you already figure this one out? If not, my guess is that the images for the menu we not uploaded to the testing server in the first version (you'll need to use the Put command to send them there. Right-click your site in the Sites panel and choose Put)".
