Do you want advice on your web site or are you here to nitpick on semantics?

Quote:
Animation is the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement.
And how do you think the marquee is implemented? It takes whatever you throw at it (text, images, other content) and displays it on the screen. Then it moves its x location and refreshes the screen, causing the illusion of movement. So, the exact definition of Wikipedia - the rapid display of a sequence of images of 2-D or 3-D artwork or model positions in order to create an illusion of movement - applies. The only difference is that the entire image moves relastive to its environmeent, rather than showing different images at the same location to create a movement within the image boundariies itself. In other words, the browser is the viewport for the animation, not the boundaries of the image itself.

Anyhow, this is just as exciting as background music... ;-)

Cheers,

Imar

You just contradicted yourself. YOu said it is the rapid display of images. A marquee takes only one image. The image does not change. Rather, its position is shifted.
It's like resizing a box. The box moves, but you wouldn't call that animation.

By the way, I asked ten people if they could read it, and if they liked the website, and they all responded yes. Maybe your vision isn't so great?

Also, they understood the project once they read the section "Project DARE." All you have to do is read. An animated background won't tell you much.

Whatever. Like I said, I find this as interesting as background sound on web pages.

You didn't phrase that well. I, for one, love the iPod touch that I put in that plays music. If you don't want music, simply click the pause button.
I don't know many websites that have an interactive iPod touch.

Haha, maybe they were blind and just heard Aerosmith? Or maybe they know you personally and didn't want to offend you?

Look, you asked for an opinion and I gave you one. Feel free to disagree, but don't attempt to piss me off and get in a fight with me by saying "By the way, I asked ten people if they could read it, and if they liked the website, and they all responded yes. Maybe your vision isn't so great?" because you'll loose it.Simply play by the rules, be nice and polite, and we'll all benefit.

Witth regards to the animations: if you're so keen on following Wikipedia to the letter, check out the Usability section of the "Marquee tag" page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquee_tag ;-)

Cheers,

Imar

I was not trying to be rude. You said that your vision is bad from old age. So I simply said maybe your vision isn't so great.
And no, the ten people I asked were not blind.
And I'm not trying to get into a fight, but if you're telling me to be polite, then you shouldn't use words like "pissing me off" towards me, because that's hypocritical.
Anyway, the site already had 213 visits (I put a counter on the bottom of the page), and that's from about one week.

I phrased it perfectly as I gave you a personal opinion. You can't be wrong with those.

Neither do I, and I am really glad about that. Again, just a personal opinion so feel free to disagree.

I am stepping out of this discussion as I am bored with it. You asked for an opinion, I gave you one, you said you appreciated the feedback, and now all of sudden its gets personal. I don't see the point.

Goodbye.

Never said it got personal. By talking on this forum, I am getting more feedback. I just don't understand why you didn't like it, but maybe it's because you're an advanced programmer, and I'm not even an adult yet, so you look at it as if you could do more with it. Therefore, in your eyes, it looks like miserable slime. Everyone who left feedback thought it was very cool, and enjoyed the music.
And yes, I did ask for your opinion, and you gave it.

If you post a personal comment on my web site, can you at least try to spell your e-mail address correctly? Finding that a message bounces because of an unknown e-mail address after typing a reply is no fun!

Thanks you; that's all.
