New to Java

Hi All,
I want to start learning Java, and was advised that "Beginning Java 2" was the book to get. The problem is I want to get the newer version that is expected this month. Does anyone happen to know exactly when it is going to be released. Thanks

Good idea to wait for the 1.5. version of this book. It is to be released by Wiley publishers in October I heard, but you know how things go...
Anyway, Ivor Horton should be the expert to teach you the new features of the language because they are basic features in the C++ language and Ivor wrote some books for beginners on C++ before.
