Default What is java 2?

Hi people,

Just had a lingering question on my mind. When one refers to Java 2 SDK 1.4, what is the 2 in Java 2 represent? Is it the JRE or a second revision of the entire java "building blocks" or what?

Thanks to you in advance.

Kaizer.

Java 2 came about with the release of JDK 1.2. Apparently, this release was significantly from 1.1. and overcame many of the problems with earlier versions of Java. Sun thought it would indicates this by classifying all subsequent releases as Java 2.

Cheers

Martyn
