Anyone else out there having problems with chapter 7? The code in the book was working fine until I made the changes to put in the special effects (starts on page 192). When I select one of the effects and click on "Preview", there is no image showing up on the page. I downloaded the code from the website and tried using that, and the same thing happens.

If I click the "Save" button, a new image is being created with the selected effect, but the page displays the original image without the effect applied to it (at least now I am getting an image, even though it is the wrong one).

I would like to get this working correctly, before I move on to the next chapter, but I am new to php and I can't see anything obvious that might be causing the problem. If someone has this working properly, could you please post the code for image_effect.php and check_image.php that you are using.

Hi, i try to answer you.. seems here are not much people expert (or desirous) to answer.. I'm not expert.. but i try.. (and sorry for the english but i'm italian).

First, what's your OS? If you have Linux maybe is authorization problem with the image, i made some test with the same script in Win and Linux, linux reported me the problem.

Same problem, but if you try to update the final page with the final picture you will see the image with the effect, the important is the saved image, it works.

I've used the downloaded Wrox files for verify the good running, no difference with the book.

Thank you for taking the time to answer and try to help me out. I gave up on trying to fix the code in that chapter a long time ago. I have moved on and now I am working on Chapter 11 - Sending E-Mail.

I'm also on chp 11, just start today! Let see if there are problems...
