Default Need help with installing PHP4 on Apache 2

I've purchased a book "Beginning PHP4" and started learning PHP4 from it. I've saw that many examples can be learnt more easily if I've had a web server that I can use to test my PHP scripts. As I'm using Windows XP Professional (with Service Pack 2 installed), I didn't want to install IIS because it's kinda stupid server. I've downloaded Apache 2 (the latest version available) from http://httpd.apache.org and after installing it I've tried to install PHP4 on it, but it didn't work. I've used the instructions given in that book but it haven't worked. So, can anyone explain me the way of installing PHP4 on Apache 2 or point me to some URL where that kind of information is available. I really need to install it, because that's the only way of improving my career. Thanks for reading this big topic, but I think there's someone who will help me.

It's actually pretty straight forward. If you've installed Apache successfully you should see a page come up when you type in http://localhost. At that point it's just a matter of configuring the Apache httpd.conf file, and copying a few dll's. The full instructions are available in the PHP manual:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/install...ws.apache2.php

Let us know if you have any problems.

HTH!

Regards,
Rich
