Default session_start doesn't work in IE on my server

Hi there,
I have a local server running on windows xp pro.
It has PHP, MySQL, Pear and everything he needs to work properlly.
I begon to learn PHP with the book PHP, Apache, MySQL Web Development, which is a beautifull book by the way, and I encountered this wierd problem.
When using session_start on my server (127.0.0.1), to pass a value through a URL (Chapter 2, page 52) everything works fine as long as I use the Firefox Browser because with IE :( it doesn't! I also uploaded the php pages to an external server and all the programs run OK with BOTH browsers . Funny, isn't?
Is that a bug in Internet Explorer? What am I doing wrong?
I really need some help on this.
Thank you guys! DAVE.
