Default CH 12 login nightmare

Forgive me, but the forum seems to be deserted and yet I just bought one of your books: ISBN 978-0-7645-7966-0, Beginning PHP5, Apache, and MySQL.

I am having serious problems with chapter twelve login admin area. Here is my personal info: username= gegala; password= rowbn; email= gegala@yahoo.com; host= localhost; database= registration; php5, apache2 and also using phpmyadmin to create databases and tables. I inserted the details above in the code provided but I cannot get past the admin login screen. It keeps telling me "invalid username and password." I am about to return the book because I do not seem to see where I am going wrong and there is no sign that the forum is still functional.

My request: Could you all patiently fit in the above detail for me in the code where it goes. Or is there something I am missing? If there is some other reading that is directly related to this book, please let me know. Please help. I do not seem to understand why my names are invalid when I have mad the dbs and tables according to the script. Please help.

Gegala.

I have the same error. The login page just does not work and returns the invalid user/password every time to any returning account trying to login again on returning to the page. The only time I can get a login to work is on the initial account creation from the register.php page.
I get the impression that the code is just not quite complete and is missing something...Anyone able to help?

I managed to get it to work in the end. It seems that setting the password varchar to 30 as opposed to 255 broke it
