Default Online version full of "X's"

I'm using the Trial Subscription to view this book.

I can't help notice so many pages with several lines of nothing but "X's".

This is extremely distracting to the point where it makes me wonder if it's worth paying for a subscription, as opposed to buying a book.

I use the Safari browser with my Intel iMac, if that is relevant.

The XXXs are there just to obscure the content until you purchase the subscription. I can assure you that the sull content is fully visible for a paid subscription.

Jim, thanks for the very prompt reply.

I guess I understand your reasoning for the "X's."

Are these books only viewable online, or can they be downloaded?

For me, it's very distracting to read a book online, and try to run software at the same time.

It's actually our partner books24x7 that came up with XXXing plan although I admit, I don't have a better idea for how to show off the system prior to purchase without showing ALL the content.

This is online viewing only, not downloadable. If you want an ebook download, you'd need to look at wiley.com where we sell our ebooks:

Unfortunately for now, our price on the PDF ebooks is the same as the full print price on the book.

Jim, thanks again for your very prompt and courteous response.

I'm just getting started in this programming thing, having bought the Beginning Mac OS X Programming book through Amazon.com.

I'm thinking that it might just be better for me to stick to the printed books for awhile.

As it is now, I'm already running myself in circles, and feeling overwhelmed.

That's why I appreciate your forums.
