Default R Program

I am learning R programming for Data Science. What software do I need to install so I can run the R programs? I have a Mac 10.5.8 version so I need a program that matches that. I have TextWrangler and Terminal on my laptop, can I run the programs there?

Any help is appreciated!
Thanks

Download from CRAN,I think the best choice of R is running in Linux using virtual operation system
