Default Having trouble with a 3-D model

Hi, I hope there's someone that can help me, I'm on Chapter 6-6 and I'm using it for a school project. but I'm having a little trouble importing a custom model, It imports correctly and it reads that it is there, but when I loaded it up, it showed me the basic outline and the faces where half see through and half black. can anyone help me with this, because I can't seem to find anything wrong. btw I'm using XCode 4 and Blender 2.62
