Probably the most common reason for not being able to get a project to open correctly is forgetting to unzip the project. Windows Explorer can open a zip file so it looks like a normal directory but Visual Studio can't work with the files inside a zip file so it gets confused.

So first double check that you unzipped the project.

After it's unzipped, you should be able to open a project by double-clicking on the .sln file.

If you try those things and they don't work, let me know and I'll email you a small test project just to make sure you can open that. If even that fails, we can look for more exotic problems.

Hi Helen,

That's weird. I just tried downloading the code (http://tinyurl.com/l9ycavo) and was able to open Chapter 8 okay.

If you have a fast connection, you might try downloading the code again in case the first download got corrupted. If that doesn't work (or would be hard because of a slow connection), email me at RodStephens@CSharpHelper.com and I'll email you Chapter 8's code.

I just emailed you. I just couldn't extract it. I don't think it is related to download speed.

Thanks!!

Helen
