Default LogVariableValueChanged error

This is a great framework, and well worth making the effort to work through Chapter 2 to understand how it operates. Just one small error I noticed as follows:

The LogVariableValueChanged event handler on the SSIS_PDS_Template.dtsx has a mapping of the third parameter using User::strVariableValue (this is also shown on p69 of the book). This gives an error as follows:

Error 4 Validation error. SQL LogVariableValueChanged : Failed to lock variable "User::strVariableValue" for read access with error 0xC0010001 "The variable cannot be found...

If I change this mapping to use System::VariableValue then all is good. I think ;)

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your note. Is it possible that you've modified the package? In the scope of the event handler, there should be a variable named strVariableValue. The Script Task before the Execute SQL Task converts the variable value to a string in that variable so that it can be inserted into the log table.

I'm happy to take another look if it's still acting up for you!
Jessica
