Just starting book: any issues with using 1.5 R2 SDK?

Hi
I just picked up a G2 dev phone (with Android 1.0 loaded) and this book and am excited to start writing some apps. There seems to be a lot new in Android 1.5, and it would seem logical to use that current SDK.

My question is: are the examples in the book pretty much compatible with 1.5 R2?

Is there a 1.5 (or 2.0 in Oct?) book in the works?

Hi Bruce,

Yes, for the most part the code samples from the book are compatible with the latest version of the SDK, I'd definitely recommend using that for your development work.

There are a few changes in 1.5 - particularly in the Sensor code and the addition of Widgets and Live Folders - but most of the code in the book is still the same (or will still work).

I've started work on a revised edition, the trick is to make sure it covers everything that'll be available by the time it's released!

I think I encountered my first problem with SDK 1.5 in Chapter 7. Do we know what happened to reverse geocoding in 1.5? The resulting address list is always empty for me.

I've read similar complaints on websites, but no explanation and I see nothing in 1.5 SDK release notes regarding the Geocoder.

What happened??
