Default Windows 2003 Server R2

With Windows 2003 Server R2, supposedly ASP.NET 2.0 web parts will now work in Sharepoint Services, because sp2 for SharePoint services is bundled with R2...is this true?

I'd love to know the answer to this myself--but until I've had an opportunity to try it myself I don't know.

I've been poking around looking for announcements on this topic that I might have missed and I'm not seeing anything that looks (to me) like news that ASP.NET Web Parts can be used on a SharePoint site. I may just be looking in the wrong place, though. Can you point me towards anything that might enlighten me?

My guess is that we won't see integration before Vista releases--but I'm willing to be wrong about that.

I thought there were various blogs on using "Smartparts" and "Son of Smartparts" to get v2.0 Webparts working in Sharepoint 2003 sp2. However I have not investigated this very much and I'm not much of an expert at the moment on any of this technology - I'm still learning.

I wish I could give you a more definite response: There may be blogs that say exactly that but I haven't found them. The only stuff that I could find doesn't indicate that ASP.NET 2.0 Web Parts will be directly usable in SharePoint--but that may tell you more about what I can find than anything else.
