Your book has listed Visual Studio 2008 as a requirement. I am running VS 2005. Will I not be able to complete many of the exercises outlined in this book?

You'll need to install .NET 3.5 separately but there are blog posts like this:

and some www.asp.net forum topics that suggest you can work with .NET 3.5 in VS 2005.

However what you will find in the book is that all the directions and screen shots are written assuming you're using VS 2008. So you will find things in the book that don't work the same way in the older VS 2005 version.
