Default Best technical book I have ever read !

Hey Elbandit / Scott Millett !

I am one of those people who never really mastered web forms development and started to look into MVC because nothing beats lightweight viewdata-free html pages (esp. when a site has thousands of heavily surfed pages.

What this book does is (in the beginning chapters) is teach all the important design patterns and principles using asp.net web forms.

Then, later the author mixes it up by introducing some similar projects using asp.net MVC 2. So the book gets into MVC 2 using enterprise patterns, but then really goes above and beyond and shows the use of Jquery/Json/Ajax blah blah.. lol

The projects are simple and you totally grasp everything and you can easily figure out how you can use the principles for your own projects. Sometimes you get overwhelmed, but just grab a piece of paper and just write in your own words what each class file is doing (sometimes you get mixed up.and if you keep reading without fully understanding.. you're wasting your time).

I'm on the Ajax chapter right now and I think im going to read the whole book again and run through all the code samples before I even attempt to begin the MVC case study.

For those of you who look at the book code and say. 'OMG.. too much to follow along with'.... NOT REALLY, just create the blank solutions, class libraries and the web project and just copy and paste the .cs class files from the book source code into your vs2010 solution. That's what i did, and I manually created all the views ( and pasted in the html code after). That cuts down your time and as long as you study the code in these files, there's no need to type all that code in. The fact that you are creating the solutions, libraries and class files should suffice. (my opinion). I have gotten every example to run in visual studio 2010, starting from scratch. :)

But, seriously, this is the best asp.net book ever written and I'm not just saying that. It's got a little bit of everything. But the magic is that it gives you just enough of everything to give you a good foundation in it.

I will follow up this post after I have completed the book :)
