Default Fixed Width MasterPage issue with libraries and lists

Hello. I first want to start off saying the book is great. Easy to read and has really helped me out.

I'm having a problem with a fixed width master page and document libraries/lists that overflow past the set width.

How I have the site setup now is the Site title, top navigation bar, and the body content is all within the s4-workspace div. When accessing a library or list that overflows, I get the horizontal scroll bar and i'm able to view all of the content, but the title img and top navigation bar doesn't stay static and I get an ugly white space where they should be when I view the over flowed content.

I'd like to have the Site title img and navigation stay static and only have the conten scroll when it overflows. I tried creating a new div and moving the title and nav before the s4-workspace div, and it looks great, but I no longer get the horizontal scroll bar for the content that overflows.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
