Default Best Way To Combine Reports ?

Hi - I have a group of reports with essentially the same layout - two pages of cover page information / welcome page; followed by a 5 column detail section. Converting these from CR 8.5 to RS, I have for now thought of these as separate reports in RS (one report with the two page cover/ welcome; one report as the 5 column report) and am wondering if this is the best way to handle these reports. I've tried to have the detail pages as a subreport, but that doesn't work because of the columns, and the limitation in the RDL specification for when to start the header / footer (the header / footer starts on the 5 column detail, which is page 3, not 2... the RDL spec only has a suppress header / footer for the first and last page). If I have to have these as two separate report pieces, which is the best way to do this so they 'run' as 1 report? I'm thinking that the programmatic rendering described in chapter 9 is the way to go.

Any ideas or different approaches / help / information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
