Default Location of file shares for Builds and Symbols

In Chapter 2, page 38, Table 2-10, it states that the Builds and Symbols file shares "Should be contained on a file server separate from any build server hardware". Could someone (preferably one of the authors) provide some explanation as to why this is important?
