Default Identi.ca doesn't work (Chapter 5)

I'm working on the Identica client (Arthur) right now, but the problem is, Identi.ca doesn't accept any new members anymore. Besides that, it switched from StatusNet to Push.io I guess. It is not really clear to me what push.io is. It's probably very noobie to ask this, but I've just started programming this summer so I hope you folks understand.

My question is, is there a good alternative for identi.ca? An other website where I can register and make an account which I can use through the Arthur application or something?

Through identi.ca I've made an account at Ephemeral Me, which seems to do the same as StatusNet/Identica (some sort of microblogging). Unfortunately there is no such thing as a connect link at that page where I'm able to switch IM settings (and thus configure XMPP support).

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I have any good news for you. It appears that identi.ca and it's XMPP bridge are gone. You might be able to find a StatusNet instance that does have XMPP bridging, but I do not know of one to suggest.

First, thanks for taking the time to react personally.

I already searched for another Status.Net server with an XMPP bridge, but couldn't find one in the time I took.

If the client doesn't work anymore, trying to program it isn't useful anymore, but I thought I would give it a shot because I prefer to complete the whole book.

I'll continue with the Gab app.
