Smile How Do I Install a WordPress 'Model' on my Mac?

I understand that MAMP is an app that will enable me to install WordPress on my Mac, so I can design and test my site off-line, utilizing an FTP to 'sync' my on-line site when I'm happy with the results of whatever I'm doing... I have 2 separate domains that I wish to run on a single hosting account in a manner that will fool the viewer into believing that the two domains aren't necessarily related. I want the viewer's url to read only information on the active domain with no reference to the other domain, unless I choose to 'link' the two domains internally as a choice or offer to the viewer. I don't have a clear plan on how I can make this happen, and would appreciate a checklist describing the various actions I must take to facilitate this setup. Thank you in advance for considering this post, even if you offer no help.
