The Confirm New Hire Start Date Workflow which starts on p46 seems to have multiple missing steps.
For step 1, "Determine Whether it should run", there are no instructions to create this although there is a screenshot.
For step 2 "Perform Initializations", steps 1 & 2 are clear enough, but there seems to be about 4-5 steps missing between steps 2 & 3 for "Perform Initializations" in the book.

I'm having the same problem. The authors apparently missed a whole section here on literally HOW to execute this workflow in DESIGNER. No mention of conditions, actions, and using the Designer UI. In fact, they don't even mention the fact you have to OPEN Designer to do this.

Even with some experience in Designer, I'm getting stuck on the Update the Instance run count step... When I use the action the value of GP Instance Run Count after checking it. The Set Value action only displays the visible site columns from the content type of the associated list. The directions (and common sense) clearly dictate that the end user NOT see this value, so what's the workaround?
