Guys,

I work in a public school district in IT department. we are trying to build a Student Information System within our department. I was just wondering if there are any good starter portal kit either we can download for free or we are ready to buy it. we just don't know which one would be better. currently, we use asp.net 2.0. This system is going to be very large and should handle about 30 thousand students within the district and their grades, registration, class schedules, attendents and lot more.

we are looking for the one that has only one aspx page after log in and every thing should handle using web user control (ascx).

I would really appreciate if you guys advice to right direction

You might also consider looking as Sharepoint 2007, and the user controls are then called "web parts" in sharepoint terminology.
