Trying to Authenticate with Active Directory

I need some help or maybe a tutorial someone has used to authenticate against an Active Directory.

Here is the LDAP I have used to view properties (that I followed along with in the Professional C# 3rd Edition Book).
"LDAP://msppdc01/CN=John Doe, OU=MSP, OU=Landform, DC=landform, DC=net"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
