pop up for drop down list

hello
i have a problem with dropdwon list
i have a object data source to which the drop down list is binded description column in data base which is very long and the control streches with respect to the data length.
all iwant to have is a popup to be opened by the side of the control,can any one suggest me javascript for getting this.
