Default Password Protected IE

hi guys,

I want to develop an application that logs the Internet Explorer (IE) usage time and the person who use it.

to do this, i need the application to runs or popup the login interface when user open the IE. when user closes all the IE windows, then the application will logout itself and at the same time logs the usage time.

how can i do this in C#??

I would consider writing a service that starts automatically when the computer starts. This service would check periodically, say once a minute, for the IEXPLORE.EXE process. You could then gather info about the process and write it to a database or a text file or an encrypted data file. You will need another application to report on the data you gather.

If you have never done it before writing a service can be challenging. I would recommend that you put most of your code in a library class that you can test from another application since testing a service can be tricky.

Depending on the IDE you are using you may find a templte for developing services otherwise you can check out:

for instructions on writing a service from scratch.

Have fun!

What you don't know can hurt you!
