I am looking for a sample asp/vbscript/windows script that could let me telnet to remote servers on relavent ports to see if the connectivity is fine and alert if it fails.

Can someone show some light on this?

Hello happygv - Our network admin guy reckons it cant be done using browser. I am not command line savvy myself and have only used telnet to see if the smpt port is listening.

Thanks for the reply. But I have seen some site that provide such kind of facility. They seem to be using some activex component for acheiving the same. The purpose of developing such thing is that the people at network operations/application monitoring would like to see alerts in case of such failure, and attend to it. Kind of monitoring tool it would be, once developed. One can't always keep seeing the apps status or logs to find if something is failing as there are a hell lot of other products which they monitor too.

So kind of searching on this still. Will let you know if I find something useful.
