Default Browser Refresh vs. Regular Link

My boss pointed out that our current site, which was written in ASP. He noted that the site's home page loads slower when he clicks the browser's refresh button vs. if he clicks a regular link on the site. Is there some simple reason for this? Thanks for any help.

Cache is a wonderful thing isn't it? Hitting refresh cause everything to be sent from the server again as opposed to items that may already be stored in cache.
