Default Getting authentication past firewall

I just completed my 1st .asp project; creating a user login with authentication. It's up and working great, except I have 1 remaining issue. Authenticaion fails - with VALID User ID and Password values - when a firewall such as 'Zone Alarm' or an external router firewall comes into play. Is there any code (or any other tricks) that may be added that will allow authentication past the firewall? If so, if you would be so kind as to specify what needs to be done and where.

Thank you!

John D.

How are you authentication the users? Are you using a database? Is the web server on a perimeter network on the internet?
