Default extract XMP metadata from a JPEG file

I want to do something like what my title suggest. I search this forum and found this http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8553 but I want to do it in classic ASP. I could start from scratch, but if anyone know of or got any code to accomplish this I'll be grateful.

Using google I found a component from http://www.chestysoft.com that can read some metadata and a hole lot more. I do not need all the other stuff and I really don't want a component (because it's hard to get components installed on various server host), but it might give you an idea of what I want.
Quote:
quote:Some meta data, or "File Info" can be read from and written to JPG and PSD files. This data can also be read from and saved to files using both the .FFO and .XMP extensions. The supported properties are listed later in these instructions. Exif attributes stored in JPG files can be accessed as read only.
Thanks in advance:)

Regards - Jon

The second post in that thread you linked to has a link directly to classic ASP source code that will do what you want. Imar and I are looking to use/convert that code to .NET.

My bad. I didn't read the text on http://www.spaz.com/rtw/test/testExif2.asp carefully enough.
Pretty cool I might add.. ;-D

Hi Kishore.

I don't have the code in either languages but I'm learning C# at the moment and perhaps I'll get time to convert it into that. But no garanties and I guess you could find it easy on either google or perhaps from planoie and Imar.
Cheers!

For Exif data we ended up using the VB 6 solution that you can download here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/exifclass/

I was a bit lazy, so I compiled it as a VB6 DLL and created a .NET wrapper so I could use it in .NET apps.

For IPTC data, another scheme for storing data in an image, we used the csImageFile object from chestysoft. Again, a simple .NET wrapper did the trick.

However, I think there are pure .NET solutions as well. Search Google for Metadata JPG Iptc .NET and you'll get quite a lot of hits.

Cheers,

Imar
