Default Crystal Report in >net environment and field size

Hi

I am new to Crystal Reports (having come from a Oracle Reports background) and have managed to developed a report with some conditionally formatting which displays fields on a report depending on a value of other fields in the report. This works a treat, however does anyone know how to amend the width of fields which are not displayed to prevent gaps appearing in the report.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Janet

I think I need to clarify my question. I actually want to know how to remove the blank spaces within my report. The blank spaces are a result of suppressing the visibility of certain fields.

Regards

Janet

Hello Janet,

You can split the fields in separate details (Section Expert window - insert).
For instance:
You have FirstName, LastName, Address fields in Your report. FirstName and LastName are always definied but the Address is not a mandatory field. In this case You create 2 deatails. Put the FirstName and LastName in the first one and the Address in the second one. Set 'Suppress Blank Section' on the common tab (in the Section expert window) for the second detail and there should not be any blank field, if the Address is not defined in the datasource.

Hope this helps :o)
Have a nice day and happy weekend!

Gabriel

Thank you for your reply, I managed to fix the problem by amending the dataset at run time.
:D
